HOME THEATER ACOUSTIC TREATMENT PROCESS
As the size of the Home theater was very small when compared to a standard Home Theater, the reflection rate and echo was very high. Acoustic Treatment was compulsory in order to get the right atmosphere. Thus, in order to resolve the excessive echo problem, a 6 layer Acoustic Treatment process was carried out for the walls. Wooden and Gypsum board false ceiling with Polywool insulation for the false ceiling and 6mm thick Loop Pile carpet with 12mm foam backing for the Flooring.
The Home Theater Acoustic Treatment process involved in the installation of Fabric wrapped Acoustic Panels (Wood Wool Board) backed with a Ply wood Framework and an infill of Polywool Insulation. The Wood Wool Acoustic Panels were finished off with a PVC Gripper track system, 12mm PU Foam and Suede Fabric.
This particular combination of Acoustics helped in acheiving an N.R.C (Noise Reduction Coefficient) Level of 0.90 on all frequencies. Thus, helping us solve the most integral issue in this Home Theater.
HOME THEATER ACOUSTIC TREATMENT DESIGN
A combination of Fabric and Wooden Acoustic Panels were installed on the walls. The Fabric Acoustic Panels were equally divided into 3 horizontal panels and were further separated from each other by Vertical Wooden Columns. These columns not only had a cove light provision for good ambient lighting but also helped in the incorporation of Speakers.
The False ceiling comprised of Wooden boxes on the borders and Gypsum board false ceiling in the center. The internal area of the Gypsum false ceiling had an Acoustic insulation of 50mm thick Polywool / Polyester Wadding. The False ceiling was very simple as we couldn’t compromise much on the height of the room. The same formula was applied for the flooring as well. With very limited options, a 6mm thick Loop pile carpet with a 12mm Foam backing was installed on the floor.
With regards to the finishing, Grey Paint was applied on the Gypsum Board False ceiling and a Grey color carpet was chosen for the Flooring. Where as for the walls, a Greyish white Suede fabric was chosen with a Brown Laminate finish on the Columns. The Ceiling and Flooring colors matched each other and the colors of the walls created a perfect contrasting effect between the False ceiling and the flooring.
